After completing my Honours in Psychology at Deakin University, I worked for several years in adolescent and youth mental health research. I was fortunate to be a primary and co-author on a number of internationally peer-reviewed journals. I then commenced my 4+2 internship in 2008 and attained full general registration several years later. I have since completed the requirements to become an AHPRA-endorsed supervisor and I am registered to supervise provisional psychologists in both a primary and secondary capacity.
In my substantive work role, I have gained significant experience conducting both clinical and forensic assessments. I have also accrued experience with individual and group-based therapy. I don't have an exclusive treatment modality but I tend to lean towards adopting the core principles of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. I have a particular interest in incorporating mindfulness into my practise - both in therapy and in supervision.
Having battled through my own internship, I have a strong understanding of what it takes to efficiently work your way through the complex requirements of both the 4+2 and the 5+1 pathways. I know how to structure case studies so that they can be successfully submitted to AHPRA. I am familiar with the multiple tasks that need to be completed to address each of the core competencies. And I appreciate the importance of having a strong working relationship between supervisor and supervisee.
